About us
Since the introduction of the NDIS, the number of care providers has grown
significantly, with an increased competitive edge. There is a tendency “to keep
everything under one roof”. As a result, clients often socialize with people of
all ages within the same care company which limits the opportunity to meet
new people of similar ages and interests.
At Truly Connect our vision is to bring clients from various FNQ care providers
together by participating in our exciting outings and adventures which provide
genuine opportunities to start new friendships.
Meet our Team
HI, I am Josie, I was born in Holland and moved to Australia 25 years ago. I have
a business degree, travelled all over the world and worked in government and
commercial jobs. I love animals and being active outdoors.
In 2015 I decided it was time for a career change and became a qualified carer.
Best decision ever! I love being with people, make them smile and motivate
them to achieve their goals. I now work as a leisure & recreational officer and
create and facilitate fun activities and special events.
I am also the proud mother of three awesome daughters, I enjoy seeing them go
out with friends and planning exciting outings. Sadly, this also reminds me that
some young people with a disability miss out on this fun as they do not have any
friends to plan adventures with. But it does not have to be this way……
Years ago I travelled alone in France by train. I met a group of four young friends
with different abilities and their carers. They were having a fantastic time, city
hopping around Europe ! This was a truly inspiring moment, which is now at
the foundation of Truly Connect.
Hi, I am Wyanita and wear many hats: Daughter, mother of two teenage girls,
partner and friend. Growing up on the Atherton Tablelands, I have very fond
memories of adventures with friends in the hills and rain forest.
I completed a Bachelor of Art- Visual Culture and then worked in a print shop
and as a freelance designer creating custom artwork for schools. One day while
working on a big order, I thought to myself…”What are you really doing? Your
contribution to the world is creating pretty pictures, sitting behind a computer
12-16 hours a day?!” I instantly knew I needed something to do where I could
make a difference to the lives of others. So 10 years ago I obtained a Diploma of
Community Services, a Certificate of Diversional Therapy and then started
volunteering with those who need assistance in life.
Today my days revolve around creating “ imagine moments” in mid to high care
facilities. I specialize in Leisure & Recreation Support and program health, social
and wellbeing activities for small groups up to 100 people or more, always with
a person centric approach.
At Truly Connect I want to create lifelong memories for young adults with
unique abilities through exciting events and experiences so everyone can be
& feel the age they truly are. I get excited when I can help empower people
with maintaining their independence and positive choice making in new
environments.
